Native
English Teachers Do Charity Teaching In Thai Camp
On August 23rd, 2008, Innovative Solutions co-sponsored by
Chutharat Pongsa-nga-ngarn, Wongsiri Rienrungroj, Sumonta
Uburanakul , Wanida Wiriyawaree and with the profound support and
co-ordination of the prominent native English teachers namely,
Whitteny Bishop from United States of America, Nicki Brook from
Australia, Anthony Kobrowisky from South Africa, Claudio Martinez
& Lorena Acevedo from Chile, set-up charity an English Camp for
indigent students in Thailand.
The camp-teaching took place at the school premises, located in
the backdrop of a temple, in the Samutsongkram Province, about 1.5
hours from Bangkok. About hundred students of age group twelve
years, from six Thai schools participated and took swelling
interest in the Thai English Camp Teaching. Students were
encouraged to only speak English in the camp. The main purpose of
the Thai English Camp was to give the children an exposure to
learn English under the direct influence of the native English
teachers. The teachers saw amazing response and proliferating
enthusiasm amongst the students when they were involved in the
games which were a part of the English Teaching Program in the
camp. The motive of the camp was also to make sure that children
from poor families can enjoy all the facilities, attend programs
suitable for them and communicate with native English teachers. To
the awe of the children, they were distributed colored pencils as
gifts and other stationeries as a part of the Camp program and
succeeded in bringing smiles to many needy faces. Usually , such
educational Thai – English charity camps are geared up once or
twice a semester. With the munificence of the benevolent native
English teachers coupled with the ungrudging noble-minded
sponsors, the Charity English teaching in Thai Camp helped the
impoverished children to imbibe in them the basic skills of
English language and also became successful in generating a
considerable amount of interest level in a foreign language.
